As we continue through shareholder season, activists across the globe are joining the chorus of voices urging BlackRock to vote in favor of climate-critical shareholder resolutions and against corporate board members who have not taken action quickly enough to stop impending climate destruction.
From April 13-17, we saw actions in 9 cities coordinated by a coalition of climate activists and grassroots groups. The common theme? To let BlackRock know that this shareholder season, all eyes are on them. The world is watching to see if BlackRock’s leadership will vote in line with their promises on climate, and expecting them to act in line with the urgency of the climate crisis.
While the size of in-person actions is still impacted globally by the COVID-19 pandemic, these demonstrations show that activists know and understand BlackRock’s role in fueling climate catastrophe. But demonstrating at BlackRock offices isn’t the only way to urge BlackRock to act on climate promises this shareholder season. You can use these tools to join the fight from home; it only takes about 10 minutes to do all three, and it can make a big difference.

@blackrock has taken strides by acknowledging the crisis of climate change & the role it has in curbing it. Now it must back that urgency of its rhetoric with pace and urgency of action.
